POTTED FLOWERS IN SUNLESS "SUNSET"

If you’re like me and love sunsets you probably love shooting during this magical hour. But sometimes, getting to a place where we can shoot beautiful pictures during sunset is simply not possible and it can be a bit frustrating.

But don’t despair, in this post I will show you a simple trick to create beautiful “sunset” flower pictures without real sunset and with the light you already have!

Elements Needed:

A pot or container with flowers
Small area outside close to a window

STEP ONE

Set the pot outside and close to a window on a shaded area then and turn on the lights inside. It’s better to have good light outside but definitely not too bright. Here you can see the potted flowers I’m going to use and the lights on inside my home

STEP TWO

Using a macro lens with a wide aperture, get low and compose your shot.
Here is an iPhone shot in portrait mode to show the lights inside. See the little orbs of bokeh? For extra interest, spray the flowers with some water to create more texture!

STEP THREE

Try different angles until you find good bokeh behind the flowers to create your “sunset” light

With your editing you can warm up the images and create that beautiful golden hour tones! That’s it!
